Stokesdale United Methodist Church Scholarship Information
If you are continuing your formal education beyond high school, Stokesdale UMC is so proud of your academic achievements. We invite you to fill out the application for the Stokesdale United Methodist Church Endowed Scholarship. The United Methodist Foundation of Western NC has received an anonymous gift that will fund a $1000 scholarship for a deserving student. If you are interested in receiving this scholarship, please complete the application and have it in the church office by Sunday, May 4, 2025.
This Stokesdale United Methodist Church Endowed Scholarship Fund is a permanently-restricted asset of the United Methodist Foundation. Every year, a portion of the fund’s earnings shall be made available to Stokesdale UMC to award scholarships. The donor’s generosity means the church can award one scholarship of $1,000 a year to an eligible student, with the possibility of renewal for up to four years. The church will continue to award scholarships annually so as many as four students could receive $1000 scholarships by 2024.
Students may apply who have been members of Stokesdale United Methodist Church, Stokesdale, NC for at least one year and are pursuing formal training or education beyond high school. The programs include:
NEW APPLICANTS:
The Stokesdale UMC Endowed Scholarship Committee will consider all eligible applicants the first week of May. The criteria we will consider include financial need, church involvement, community service, and academic achievement. To be considered for the scholarship, we must receive all applications by Sunday, May 4, 2025. The application will not be considered complete until the committee has also received the following:
If you are a scholarship recipient and eligible for a renewal, you must reapply using the same procedure as a new applicant. Each application must include an UPDATED cover letter. The committee would like to hear from the applicant how things are going since receiving the scholarship. The application will not be considered complete until the committee has also received the following:

- A certificate, technical, trade, and/or vocational program.
- An accredited 2-year degree-granting program.
- An accredited 4-year degree-granting program.
NEW APPLICANTS:
The Stokesdale UMC Endowed Scholarship Committee will consider all eligible applicants the first week of May. The criteria we will consider include financial need, church involvement, community service, and academic achievement. To be considered for the scholarship, we must receive all applications by Sunday, May 4, 2025. The application will not be considered complete until the committee has also received the following:
- A completed application with all the required signatures
- the student’s most recent academic transcript
- a copy of the tuition/fee bill or other proof of enrollment and cost.
- a copy of the dormitory/rental lease or other proof of housing (if applicable)
- a cover letter explaining the student’s faith journey, financial need, and vocational plans.
